FAQs
Questions, answered
Everything we are asked most often, in one place — 23 answers across ordering, the two VAT treatments, flexible leasing and premium stock.
Ordering and delivery
More on ordering and delivery →Why don't you need a credit check?
No credit check. We assess affordability, not your credit score.
We own our vehicles and lease them to you directly. There is no lender to satisfy, so there is nothing for a credit score to unlock — we only need to know the monthly payment is affordable for you.
Most leasing companies are introducing you to a finance provider, which is why they have to score you. We are not: the vehicle is ours, the agreement is with us, and no third party is involved at any stage.
How long does delivery take?
Typically 7 to 10 working days from the paperwork being agreed. Because we hold the vehicle rather than ordering it, there is no build slot to wait for and no delivery date that moves.
Where do you deliver?
Nationwide, to your home or your business premises.
What do I need to provide?
Three things: your driving licence (both sides), proof of address from the last 3 months, and either a recent payslip or your last full month’s bank statement — whichever is easier, one is enough. Plus bank details for the direct debit. We use these to check the monthly payment is affordable for you. You upload these through My Rapid once your order is underway.
Personal leasing
More on personal leasing →Is the price I see the price I pay?
Yes. Personal pricing is shown inc VAT, so the monthly figure on the page is the figure that leaves your account. The upfront payment is shown separately and stated on every vehicle.
Can I lease personally if I have a company?
Yes, and plenty of directors do. Leasing personally keeps the agreement in your name and out of the company’s books. Which suits you better depends on your circumstances — your accountant is the right person to ask.
Do you run a credit check?
No credit check. We assess affordability, not your credit score.
We own our vehicles and lease them to you directly. There is no lender to satisfy, so there is nothing for a credit score to unlock — we only need to know the monthly payment is affordable for you.
You must be 18 or over and a UK resident, and we will tell you where you stand before you commit to anything.
What is not included?
Servicing and maintenance are not included, and you arrange your own insurance. Road tax and roadside assistance are. Budget for all four when comparing our monthly against products that bundle them in.
What happens at the end?
You hand the vehicle back, subject to condition and the agreed mileage. On our flexible agreements the upfront payment is returned. Most of our customers take another vehicle — that is the point of the relationship.
Business leasing
More on business leasing →Can I reclaim the VAT on the rentals?
Often partly, sometimes fully — it depends on whether there is any private use, what the vehicle is, and your VAT position. VAT recovery on cars is more restricted than on commercial vehicles. We will give you everything you need in writing, but we are not tax advisers: check with your accountant before assuming a figure.
Are the payments a business expense?
Lease rentals are usually treated as an operating expense rather than an asset on the balance sheet. How that lands for your company depends on its circumstances and accounting treatment — again, your accountant.
Do you deal with sole traders?
Yes — limited companies, directors, sole traders, partnerships and fleets. The paperwork differs, the product does not.
What if the work dries up?
That is what flexible leasing is for. Six months minimum, then month to month with one month’s notice, and the upfront payment comes back when the vehicle does.
Can you handle a whole fleet?
Yes. Tell us the shape of it — how many, what type, and over what period — and we will come back with a plan rather than twenty separate quotes.
Flexible leasing
More on flexible leasing →What happens to my upfront payment if I hand the vehicle back?
The upfront payment is refundable when the vehicle is returned. This is unusual in vehicle leasing, where an initial payment is normally the first rental and is gone.
Refund is subject to: the vehicle being returned in good condition allowing for fair wear and tear; mileage being within the agreed allowance, or excess mileage charges being settled; all monthly payments being up to date; and any damage charges being settled. Refunds are processed within 5 working days of the vehicle being collected and inspected.
Is there a minimum period before I can return it?
Yes — six months. After that the agreement runs month to month for as long as you need the vehicle.
How much notice do I need to give?
One month. So the shortest possible commitment is six months plus a month’s notice.
How many miles do I get?
10,000 miles a year, in line with a standard lease. If you cover more than that, tell us at the quote stage and we will price it in rather than leave you with a charge at the end. Excess mileage beyond the allowance is charged at 12p per mile.
What is and isn't included?
Road tax and roadside assistance are included. Servicing and maintenance are not, and you arrange your own insurance — budget for both when comparing the monthly figure against products that bundle them in.
